I’ve always been proud to be a libertarian — you do you, hun — I’m going to go over here and work on me.
It’s been so much FUN to unleash a little more of me with new people, friends, clients, and collaborators in the last few weeks and I can’t help but feel remarkably grateful for friends who let me crash birthday parties with product samples, and clients who nervously cringe at sassy marketing tag lines and product names (you KNOW I secretly LOVE it when it shocks you.
The world is full of things to build and create. I learned from someone very wise a few years ago that the present and future are completely empty: We BRING the baggage. We BRING too much context and meaning, and we listen to too many “you shoulds” in life — THEY DON’T EXIST. They’re there in our memories and they make us FEEL icky or scared or held back — but they’re not really THERE — and that’s f***Ing awesome. You just put them back in the past where they came from and you have a beautiful empty canvas to fill.
NOTHING in your way leads to possibilities. Ideas to share. Things to build and create. In the last four months, I’ve worked on 10 NEW brands and cleaned up a few old ones. Three of them never existed anywhere but in my own, warped little head. I don’t know if they’ll all come to life —— but I hope they do. The possibilities get me out of bed in the morning. They get me excited to share, give, play, meet — grow!
This morning, a very unfortunate 15 year old was utterly wrecked by daylight savings (lol – poor thing) — he desperately needed a shower and some caffeine to function at school, so – Mommy to the rescue. I got to enjoy the 20 minute ride to the school chatting with my little man clone, and then a beautiful sunrise on my way to the gym in peace and quiet all by myself (very slowly, all the way -thank you slow moving farm truck in the sticks where I live) …. The sunrise was beautiful. The day is full of time to be used any way we choose. We’re only beholden if we WANT to be – and there are people everywhere who we help shine and let us do the same.
Building is beautiful … go get some things you WANT to fill up your future.
