Slow Down to Hurry Up to the Right Thing

So Alive…

Remember that Love and Rockets song? Likely not — it was fairly obscure back in the day unless you lived in the UK. And I’m currently feeling old as shit as I often lament with my bestie – but it’s a great song nonetheless ….

I try and add a few things – to my now much emptier calendar – every week that I haven’t done in a long time, or ever. Some I’ve wanted to do. Some not so much. LOL – some just downright bizarre — it’s all in an effort to CREATE a new normal that feels more balanced, sane, and more aligned with me and how I’ve wired my brain and my interests and loves.

Some things you quickly realize aren’t your jam. Others, like trying on the super bizarre, but endlessly interesting pair of pants at the funkiest store you go to – fit and work in ways you didn’t expect but fall in love with.

There’s always a temptation for those of us who are driven, control freaks, and accomplishers to scurry from one thing to the next as FAST as we can. It’s remarkably unnerving to take my time and explore. It’s raw — some good, some meh – some — let’s say we tried and move on quickly from them – but it’s healing and I’m learning. It’s a remarkable challenge. It’s fun. I think.

Some feelers start to creep into places you used to live – like social – that you don’t anymore … but maybe should more. UNCOMFORTABLE to try and take on a new role in front of “uh um” – people – who’ll never let you do anything right or give you the benefit of the doubt, and beautifully, brightly, RIGHTLY — most just smile, support you, and cheer you on in their way.

Someone told me today they expected me to go away for a long while. LOL. It feels like it HAS been a long while. It made me laugh. I think I’m supposed to curl up in a corner and die?? Ha  — clearly someone who doesn’t know me very well. Life is a remarkably unpredictable adventure.

LIVE a little more. Try new things. Get out there.  It’s almost spring, and the sunshine returning is reminding me that I have things to do, say, and try — and so do you.
